I’ve been researching the quad cortex for over a year now and at some point I plan on purchasing one. With this update I think it takes an already amazing product and makes it almost in a league entirely on its own. The fact that many professional musicians turn with this speaks volumes about how good it is. I loved this video Mark you are my favorite reviewer brother. You’re thorough and I can tell when you truly believe in the product you’re reviewing. Cant wait to hear this cortex in your regular pedal board chain and see what ambient goodness you can come up with! I’d love like a 2 hour deep dive in the cortex with your pedal board at some point bud!

Everyone sleeping on Nolly Amp 4 for rhythm. You just have to dial it right and you can get some of the best chuggy metal rhythm.

What was your verb unit you used in this demo ?

Thoughts about simply using the pedal on a pedal board in front of an amp - old school? What would I have to know?

What is the Les Paul looking guitar at the start?

My direct gain chain is Chase Bliss preamp mk2, Kingsley Squire, UAFX stomp. Sounds absolutely glorious. The secret being the Kingsley squire, it's light years better than the UAFX amp pedals in my experience. I've tried them all but the Kingsley is so 'genuine', warm and has Headroom for days. I'm a huge UAFX fan but they're very brittle and compromised compared to the Squire

Great video as always! Keep it up! I was able to route from the standalone plugin instance to Virtual 1/2 in UAD Console but when I hit record in Luna, Virtual 1/2 in the Console is muted instantly - what am I missing? How do you keep monitoring your lowest latency audio when recording with these Virtual 1/2 config ? ;)

How have you found the real amp comparing to the ndsp morgan suite?

The reverb game is suoer hot right now with this, the Mercury X, CXM 1978, abd even scalled back options like the cloudburst, blue sky, illumine, Mako R1 and the Mercury7 remains super relevant. I'm waiting on a used CXM 1978 to arrive today. At £500 it was hard to ignore for someone not loving screen parameters etc. its also one of this epedals that i think will still be relevant in 10 years due to the UI. Sou d wise, it feels theres not much headroom for reverb to get better. more creative - undoubtedly, but not better quality

Great video man! This is an unreal user manual for this pedal! When I’m using mine with the freeze, I’m getting some distortion… could this be my playing or possibly my compressor hitting the pedal? 🙏I have the texture at noon.

This is a great video, I was using Neural DSP plugins in my DAW and this is much better. What sample rate do you like to use for Neural DSP recording?

Great video! The intro song was great. I’m not a fan of anything Nolly does. His mixes aren’t very good to me. They sound bland and suck all the energy out of it. I prefer your mixes over his.

Thank you, I loved the Boss IR 200, because it has an effects loop, but I just used a stock Fender Reverb IR most of the time, I was in a rut. Your video and a few others, especially the Origin Effects one, because they affirmed the OX Stomp, in use with their amp circuit pedals. and I have two of them, prompted me to invest my dosh, selling one of my mandolins to get it. But just the tone of your explanation for liking the OX Stomp sounds genuine. while I get it that marketing comes in many guises, I agree this pedal has given life to new ideas, new timbres, and perhaps it's emulation, but it sounds so real to my ears, I wouldn't need to know anything about it, the stock Rig options are great.

This is probably one of the most thorough and understandable pedal reviews that I have ever watched. I would call this a Master Class for not only understanding the capability of the Onward, but a clear explanation and demonstration of how to configure the device to evoke so many weird and wonderful textures for a newbie like myself that would like to get straight to the beauty of the sounds without pouring through the manuals. I will definitely be saving this video in my playlist as a go to reference. Thank you for sharing this information.

I'm guessing this is passthrough (sorry if I missed that). Seems it would sound good going into a Laney Lionheart 1x12 cab or Fender Tone Master FR-12, mostly for outdoor gigs.

Horribly unbalanced, thin, scratchy tones, you could equally well play piezo pickups only. Equally horrible look too for me. Any average Telecaster sounds better to me.

Mark! Please try out the Konstante by Twilight Pulse Audio please! It’s essentially a modded Greer Lightspeed, with an echoplex boost built in to it, I have a feeling you would love it!
